Moving Tips |
|
Here are some helpful tips when planning to move.
- If planning to move, make sure the timing is right. Certain parts of the year are busier then others. Make sure there is a truck available for your move that day. Reserve a truck AND movers in advance.
- Make sure you have enough packaging. This includes boxes, tape, bubble wrapping and labels. You wouldn't want anything to get left out.
- Label EVERY box. Use labels so the movers will know where to put the boxes or furniture. Boxes should have labels such as "Master Bed", "Master Bath", "Kitchen", and most importantly "Fragile".
- Once all of the preparations are taken care of and it's time for the big move, make sure the movers have room to back their truck up to the property.
- Make sure the movers have directions to your old location.
- If you have to do some spot cleaning after all the boxes and furniture is moved out make sure there is someone to let the movers into the new location. If not, make sure the old location is completely empty and the doors are locked.
- The movers will need directions from your old location to your new location.
- Just as before, make sure there is room for the moving truck at your new location.
- Show the movers which rooms are which. This will enable them to place the labeled boxes in the appropriate rooms.
Make Moving Easier! Here's How:
Eliminate instead of relocating. If you have pre-move sales such as yard sales, garage sales or simply just going through your things and donating them it might save you time, space and not to mention help out with the cost of moving.
Selling your items at a garage sale, yard sale, or rummage sale could make you money while saving you money. It will take up less space, time, and fewer boxes the movers have to move.
Donating your unwanted items such as unused exercise equipment, toys, or old clothes will also help. During tax time these things can all help you save some money when it's time to file tax returns. Ask for an itemized receipt.
If you haven't used it in the last six months chances are you won't need it in the near future. If it's important to you then keep it. If it is something that's not close to your heart get rid of it.
